VILDALFA-MT tablet works by the combined action of both the components – metformin and vildagliptin. It decreases the amount of glucose absorbed from the intestine, lowering the amount of sugar created by the liver and facilitating the entry of sugar into the cells.
Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production and intestinal absorption of glucose and improves insulin sensitivity (increases peripheral glucose uptake and utilization). Vildagliptin works by making the pancreas produce more insulin and less glucagon, thus leading to a decrease in blood glucose levels.
